2002 until now: Postgraduate Master's Programme in Public Health

Our curriculum supplies students with a comprehensive knowledge and practical skills concerning instruments of governing health care systems. They will gain expertise in terms of political and legal guidance (health policy making, target-setting, strategy development and evaluation) and in terms of both economic and knowledge-based governance (e.g. economic evaluations, evidence-based medicine, health technology assessment). The Graz Public Health Programme aims to provide high quality, community-oriented postgraduate public health education.
The objective of our interdisciplinary programme is to train participants to apply the knowledge and expertise they obtain in the courses in the interest of community health. It aims at enhancing knowledge of epidemiology, basic concepts and approaches of public health, the planning, managing and research of health services, and the planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion programmes. The curriculum integrates both theoretical and methodological knowledge as well as practical skills in order to enable graduates to work effectively with a variety of public health issues. Target groups for our postgraduate course are professionals with related work experience as well as other qualified individuals holding management positions in the health care system or a professional degree of equal quality. Due to the fact that the programme is small, students will have the opportunity to work closely with experts from a variety of fields.
